Summer school

As I'm sure you all know, the main reason I'm in Spain is to study abroad for 5 weeks. This means that I am taking two classes and earning the last six credits of my Spanish minor. I had originally picked out Spanish Culture and Spanish Cinema for my classes, but after this morning, I've decided to change things up.

Our host mom walked my roommate and I to the group meeting point this morning from where the ISA directors showed us around the office and then took us to the University of Valencia. Since I'm such a nerd, I was super excited to have classes today (even though I knew it would be a challenge).

Necessary "first day of school" picture (wearing a dress I bought in Madrid)!

However, I was not prepared for the level of difficulty right off the bat. After a quick introductory welcome video and PowerPoint, we took a grammar test! Yes, you read that right- a Spanish grammar test on the first day of class! To say that I felt overwhelmed would be the understatement of the century.  Since I haven't been in a Spanish class for over six months, I felt rather inadequate as I paged through the exam. Thankfully, some parts came back to me, but I realized how much I've forgotten.

After struggling through the test, I decided it would be best to switch my Cinema class to Grammar to work on my weakness. Though I know it will be hard, I know my decision is for the best. That being said, our Grammar class (of five students) went and bought the required book. I plan on looking through it later before class tomorrow (nerd alert)!

On our walk back home from the University, my roommate and I didn't get lost even once! Though we did consult our map initially, we had it put away for the rest of our walk! In my book, not getting lost is definitely a win!

Again if anyone would like to contact me, you can download the Viber app on smartphones or reach me via Facebook! Looking forward to getting accustomed to my new home :)
