Catedral de Valencia |
The main reason for our excursion was to visit two important sites: L'Almoina and La Lonja. L'Almoina is a museum in the center of Valencia focused on the preservation and education of the old Roman ruins that lay beneath the city. It boggles my mind to think that the metropolis of Valencia is situated right on top of an ancient Roman civilization. I stole some contraband photos before the museum guard caught me, so enjoy!
Next, we looped around to see La Lonja, the old silk market trading site in Valencia. I absolutely loved the architecture of this building, mainly because it reminded me of the Great Hall at Hogwarts (nerd alert)!
After all this walking (on one of the hottest days so far), we stopped at a cafe to eat our packed lunches and order water. Unfortunately, the waitress got cranky when we pulled out our sandwiches, which had never happened before, so I had to eat mine walking later.
The tour wrapped up around 2pm, and then a couple of us decided to head back to historic Valencia to do a little tourist shopping. I found some souvenirs, but didn't have much cash on me, so we agreed to come back the next day!
